After almost five years of running Three Shires Independent Funeral Services, I thought it was about time I introduced myself!
I’m Jo and I’ve worked in the industry for almost 20 years from the very early day when I helped out local independent funeral directors, from learning the ropes to just before the concept of Three Shires was created when I was a funeral director/ manager for a large corporate chain of funeral directors. In those years I went from a funeral service operative to a funeral director and then a branch manager!
The main thing missing in those years with larger companies was the opportunity to spend time with families. The personal touch and spending time with families during a loss were very important to me and the call to do something about that was huge! The plan was put into place to create somewhere that gave me the chance to change something that was becoming the “norm” with other funeral directors. alongside the costs of a funeral, which I believe should be more affordable (something that I’m passionate about) so after a good few months of planning Three Shires Independent Funeral Service was opened on Moody Street, and we remained there for almost four years until our new premises were ready in October of this year!
